Birthday Boy

Tuesday we celebrated J's seventh birthday. I just cannot believe this is the same boy that we brought home from the hospital a month before his due date. The time really goes so quickly.

Our day of celebration was very perfect for our family. Low key, and yet very fun. We began our day with our family tradition of walking to get "Birthday Donuts" at our favorite donut shop. As usual, they were fresh and warm and delicious. We met some of our good friends there and spent some time playing in the grass, enjoying the day.

Later in the afternoon we had a play day with another family of good friends. We ran the sprinklers and threw water balloons and ate ice cream.

For supper we took a picnic to the nearby downtown park. The geese wandered over for any nibbles we would offer. It was a beautiful evening.

My baby is 7 ! He came home so tiny and helpless, and today he is a smart, handsome, thoughtful boy. His heart is so sensitive to what is good, right, and just. He is a thinker. He is meticulous. He is growing in wisdom and knowledge. He loves Legos, artwork, reading books. He likes spending time with Dad. He enjoys being outside. He is good at creating things. He is developing a good sense of humor!

I love watching you grow and mature! Happy Birthday, My Little Boy!
