Kid-isms

J was frustrated as he was attempting to build some sort of ramp for his cars. I said "Did your plan backfire?" He looked at me quizzically and asked what the word "backfire" meant. I explained "backfire" meant that things did not go according to his plan. A few minutes passed. Then another groan of frustration escaped his throat and he shouted "I AM BACKFIRED!!"

I am considering trying several new meals over the campfire. One of the boys heard me talking about this and piped up "Don't worry mom, I'm sure people cooked like that all the time way back in the..80's and 90's."

It's all a matter of perspective, isn't it! Someday, he will hear his kids say something like that, and you, as the grandmother, will remember his kid-isms, because you are writing them down!
