Recipe for Date Night

During the winter months, this is our favorite "at home-date night" treat.
So easy, yet so rich and delicious that it makes anyone feel extra special.

Home-made Hot Cocoa

(Recipe found on the Hershey cocoa tin)

1/2 cup sugar

1/4 cup Hershey Cocoa

dash salt

1/3 cup hot water

4 cups milk

3/4 tsp vanilla

Mix sugar, cocoa salt, and hot water in a saucepan. Cook and stir over medium heat until mixture boils; boil and stir 2 minutes. Add the milk and heat just until it is as hot as you like. Be careful not to let it boil. Remove from heat, stir in vanilla.

Extras:

  • Mix with your favorite coffee for a home-made rich mocha.
  • Add marshmallows or whipping cream and chocolate sprinkles.
  • At Christmas time, add a peppermint stick for a stir stick.

I've been wanting a yummy homemade hot cocoa recipe... who knew it was already in my pantry? ;-) Thanks!

The weather here got a tiny bit cooler today (ok, it's about 72 right now... but this is Texas) so this may be featured at our house this weekend!

That's my favorite cocoa recipe, too! And I find at home dates just as fun as being able to go out. Kids in bed early, good adult food, a good movie or chat. Doesn't get much more cozy than that!
