This little lady is becoming quite the little kitchen helper. I am enjoying working along side her in the kitchen. Her choice of holiday treat to bake was sugar cookies. Happy little trees, snowmen and snowflakes...piped frosting...sprinkles...sparkly sugar.
Here is our favorite sugar cookie recipe:
2 cups flour
1/4 tsp salt
3/4 cup sugar
1 egg
3/4 cup (real) butter
1 1/2 tsp vanilla
Cream butter and sugar. Add egg and vanilla...beat until well mixed. Add flour and salt. Beat just until combined. Divide dough in half and form two disks. Wrap in plastic wrap or ziplock bag and chill for at least 1 hr. On floured surface, roll to 1/4 inch thickness (not too thin!!). Cut with desired shapes and bake at 325 on ungreased baking sheet for 12-14 minutes. Remove to a cooling rack immediately.
*Makes a smallish batch (24 or so?) But, it is a delicious recipe. And when making them with small children, it is the perfect amount to do before mama gets worn out of all the cutting/rolling/decorating. :)
