This morning while reading Isaiah 53 with my kiddos, D suddenly stopped and looked up at me. Verse 10 had her confused...
But the LORD was pleased To crush Him, putting Him to grief; If He would render Himself as a guilt offering, He will see His offspring, He will prolong His days, And the good pleasure of the LORD will prosper in His hand.
Her concerned voice stopped me..."Mom, who is HIM??" The shock of the grief our Savior went through on the cross was becoming real to her. The fact that the sacrifice- horrible as it was pleased the LORD- was awakening in her heart.
May we all understand with the awe and innocence of a child, the astounding and horrible yet full of love sacrifice Jesus Christ made for us on the cross.
